ORATORY LATIN CLASSES
The Oratory Latin classes, which started last September, will continue this academic year. The course has helped many people follow more closely the Latin liturgical texts, which are such an important part of our worship as Catholics. Anyone with some familiarity with Latin would be welcome to join the course. The classes are free of charge, but small contributions will be gratefully received to cover the cost of photocopying. The first series of classes will take place every fortnight starting on Thursday evening, 23rd September, at 7.30pm in St Wilfrid's Hall.
ST THOMAS AQUINAS STUDY GROUP
The study group will continue this academic year, giving anyone interested the chance to deepen their understanding of the philosophy of St Thomas Aquinas. The topic for this term is "Happiness and Pleasure". The study group, led by Mr Dominic Sullivan, the Head of Classics at the London Oratory School, will meet every fortnight starting on Thursday evening, 15th September, at 7.30pm in St Wilfrid's Hall.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU HAVE TO GO INTO HOSPITAL?
In light of strict data protection rules it is essential that on entering hospital you indicate that your details or those of your relative are to be passed to the Roman Catholic Chaplain. Also state that you or your relative would like the Roman Catholic Chaplain to visit you. Chaplains visit the wards during the week and provide an on-call service in case of emergency.
DONATE VIA YOUR MOBILE PHONE
SIMPLY TEXT “PARISH ORATO” TO THE NUMBER 70800
There is a new way of making a donation to the Oratory Parish via your mobile phone. You can now text £5 as an offering to help us with our many pastoral and charitable activities, and for the upkeep of our church. Simply type: “Parish”, then space, then “ORATO”, and send the text message to the number 70800. £5 will be added to your mobile phone bill, as a donation that will go directly to the Oratory Parish. This is authorised by the Diocese of Westminster. You will not receive unsolicited calls or spam texts. You are in complete control of when to donate. There is nothing to sign-up for or log into. The Oratory Parish receives 97 pence for every pound donated, which is good stewardship. The Diocese of Westminster is sponsoring this programme in all 215 parishes across the Diocese, so there is no cost to us. If you have any questions, contact the Oratory House, or the Diocese at 020 7798 9375.
GIFT AID – HELPING THE ORATORY
If you are a UK taxpayer, the Oratory can claim back from the Inland Revenue 25p of every £1 you give, at no cost or inconvenience to you. Setting up a Gift Aid arrangement helps the Oratory to increase its income, which is much needed for the upkeep of the church and for the many pastoral activities in the parish. For further information contact the Oratory House.
PRIEST REFERENCE FOR SCHOOL APPLICATIONS
Parents who wish one of the Oratory Fathers to give their child a school reference must register with the “Mass Attendance” scheme. Registration forms are available from the Oratory House.

YEAR OF MERCY
(see also here)
The Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy began with Pope Francis opening the Holy Door in St Peter’s Basilica on 8th December 2015. More information about events during the year, Holy Doors and the Indulgence is available on http://rcdow.org.uk/year-of-mercy/. Our Cardinal Archbishop wishes that throughout the Year of Mercy the customary “Hail Mary” in the Sunday bidding prayers be replaced by the “Hail, Holy Queen”, in which we entrust ourselves to Our Lady as “Mother of mercy”:
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary!
