MAY GOD REWARD YOUR GENEROSITY

The Fathers are most grateful to all who contributed to the Garden Party on Saturday 27th June, which raised £10,649, and to all who supported the appeal of Aid to the Church in Need for persecuted Christians in the Middle East on 4th/5th July, which has raised £9,699 so far.

12TH JULY IS “SEA SUNDAY”

The Apostleship of the Sea (AoS) is the official maritime welfare agency of the Catholic Church in Great Britain. AoS reaches out to seafarers visiting our ports, offering pastoral and practical support and care. This Sunday the Church prays for all those who live and work at sea. Sea Sunday is your chance to help AoS make a real difference in the lives of seafarers. Everything AoS does is on behalf of Britain’s Catholic community. AoS is wholly dependent on voluntary donations to continue its work. There will be a special collection on Sea Sunday for the work of AoS. For more information on the work of AoS please visit their website at www.apostleshipofthesea.org.uk.

Please join the national network of prayer. At the Oratory, the Vigil Mass on 11th July at 6pm will be celebrated for this intention. Moreover, the weekly prayers of the Confraternity of the Precious Blood in the Seven Dolours Chapel, which follow the Vigil Mass, will be offered especially for the work of evangelisation.

PLENARY INDULGENCE FOR THE JUBILEE YEAR OF ST PHILIP NERI

In celebration of the 500th anniversary of the birth of our Holy Father St Philip Neri (21st July 1515), Pope Francis has granted a Jubilee Year with an attached Plenary Indulgence, subject to the usual conditions (sacramental Confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff). During the Jubilee Year, which runs from 25th May 2015 to 26th May 2016, the indulgence can be gained every day in our church (and in any other church of a canonically established Congregation of the Oratory). To gain the indulgence, a pilgrimage must be made, or one should take part in a service or devotion in honour of St Philip, concluding by saying the Our Father and Creed and prayers to the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Philip. The indulgence may be applied to the faithful departed.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU HAVE TO GO INTO HOSPITAL?

In light of strict data protection rules it is essential that on entering hospital you indicate that your details or those of your relative are to be passed to the Roman Catholic Chaplain. Also state that you or your relative would like the Roman Catholic Chaplain to visit you. Chaplains visit the wards during the week and provide an on-call service in case of emergency.

GIFT AID – HELPING THE ORATORY

If you are a UK taxpayer, the Oratory can claim back from the Inland Revenue 25p of every £1 you give, at no cost or inconvenience to you. Setting up a Gift Aid arrangement helps the Oratory to increase its income, which is much needed for the upkeep of the church and for the many pastoral activities in the parish. For further information contact the Oratory House. Offertory Envelope boxes can now be collected from the Oratory House.

PRIEST REFERENCE FOR SCHOOL APPLICATIONS

Parents who wish one of the Oratory Fathers to give their child a school reference must register with the “Mass Attendance” scheme. Registration forms are available from the Oratory House.
