AID TO THE CHURCH IN NEED EVENT
On Wednesday 21st October at 7pm there will be talks in St Wilfrid’s Hall by Father Douglas Bazi, a Chaldean priest from Erbil in northern Iraq, who was kidnapped and tortured in Baghdad, and from Marc Fromager, Director of Aid to the Church in Need, France. There will be refreshments and entrance is free, with a collection at the event. If you are interest to come, please contact email@example.com.
FOR PERSECUTED CHRISTIANS
Following an appeal in the Oratory Church last month by Neville Kyrke-Smith, director of the Aid to the Church in Need in the U.K., over £25,000 has so far been collected for Christians persecuted in the Middle East. A box will remain at the back of the church for those who wish to continue contributing to this urgent cause. On behalf of our persecuted brothers and sisters the Fathers are very grateful for your generosity.
CRY ROOM NOW AVAILABLE
A cry room is now available in the Oratory Church during Sunday morning Masses (10am, 11am, 12.30pm). Changes have been made to St Gregory’s Library in the church porch to make room for infants and toddlers. The entrance is through the Sacred Heart Chapel (first chapel on the left in the church). A supervisor will be present, but parents need to accompany and take responsbility for their children.
PLENARY INDULGENCE FOR THE JUBILEE YEAR OF ST PHILIP NERI
In celebration of the 500th anniversary of the birth of our Holy Father St Philip Neri (21st July 1515), Pope Francis has granted a Jubilee Year with an attached Plenary Indulgence, subject to the usual conditions (sacramental Confession, Holy Communion, and prayer for the intentions of the Supreme Pontiff). During the Jubilee Year, which runs from 25th May 2015 to 26th May 2016, the indulgence can be gained every day in our church (and in any other church of a canonically established Congregation of the Oratory). To gain the indulgence, a pilgrimage must be made, or one should take part in a service or devotion in honour of St Philip, concluding by saying the Our Father and Creed and prayers to the Blessed Virgin Mary and St Philip. The indulgence may be applied to the faithful departed.
ORATORY YOUNG ADULTS GROUP
The next event will be on Thursday 29th October in St Wilfrid’s Hall: Luke de Pulford will speak on “The Bill is dead, long live the Bill: How to prepare for the next attack on human life”. This talk will look at the issues around the defeated Euthanasia bill. Luke de Pulford has worked in and around Parliament for 8 years, until recently ran the Pro-Life Research Unit which supports the work of the All Party Parliamentary Pro-Life Group, and now coordinates a global anti-human trafficking network. Hot snacks and drinks from 7.30pm. The talk starts at 8pm. All those aged 18-35 welcome to attend. The following meetings (usually on the last Thursday of the month) will be on 26th November and 28th January (Jacob Rees-Mogg).

GIFT AID – HELPING THE ORATORY
If you are a UK taxpayer, the Oratory can claim back from the Inland Revenue 25p of every £1 you give, at no cost or inconvenience to you. Setting up a Gift Aid arrangement helps the Oratory to increase its income, which is much needed for the upkeep of the church and for the many pastoral activities in the parish. For further information contact the Oratory House.
PRIEST REFERENCE FOR SCHOOL APPLICATIONS
Parents who wish one of the Oratory Fathers to give their child a school reference must register with the “Mass Attendance” scheme. Registration forms are available from the Oratory House.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU HAVE TO GO INTO HOSPITAL?
In light of strict data protection rules it is essential that on entering hospital you indicate that your details or those of your relative are to be passed to the Roman Catholic Chaplain. Also state that you or your relative would like the Roman Catholic Chaplain to visit you. Chaplains visit the wards during the week and provide an on-call service in case of emergency.
